Stop Procrastinating Now

If you'd like to stop procrastinating, now, then you've come to the right place. In this article, we're going to discuss what causes people to procrastinate and then how to end it today.
So, first, why do people procrastinate? Well, like anything else, they get a "secondary benefit" from it. In other words, on the surface, it seems like your procrastination is about one thing, but on a deeper level, it's about something else entirely. For instance, many people waste time because they fear failure. And for them, to try is to risk failing; therefore, it's easier to never try because then they never fail. In other words, procrastination is saving them from failing. But not really. It's actually causing them to fail because they never try.
Once you figure out what the emotional reason you procrastinate is, then it's easier to fight. If you know why you waste time, then you either need to overcome that or find another way to satisfy that part of yourself. For instance, many people procrastinate because they're overworked and need a break. If this is the case, then if you take more breaks, you'll get way more done.
But the best way to overcome procrastination is to use this emotional reason against yourself. To do this, you need to figure out why you procrastinate and then prove to yourself that procrastinating is causing you more pain or less pleasure depending on how you motivate yourself. And while the way you procrastinate will tell you how you're motivated, it's far easier to just ask yourself how you wake up in the morning--are you motivated to get up and enjoy the day or because you really have to pee?
For instance, I deal with problems of fear of success mainly in my own life. I worry that I'm going to get everything that I want, but then it's going to blow up in my face: I'll get the business running and then it'll tank or the bad parts of my family will want money or I'll mess up and get sued and lose everything or...
I can think of ten million reasons why something is ultimately going to work, but then cause me more problems in the long run. However, this focus on the negative potentials of the future causes me to negate the ways that I'm failing in the present because I'm so worried about what shouldn't be. Since I know that I'm motivated away from pain, when I slack off, I just have to remind myself that I'm keeping myself poor and in the situations I don't like. And honestly, if I can stack all the awful things about my life I want to change and remind myself that working is the answer, it's not that big of a deal to make myself work (even if I'm not making money on the project!).
If you can figure out this equation for yourself--motivation strategy + proof that emotional reason for procrastinating is failing you--then, you'll have an unstoppable procrastination cure.
